Event Details
Imagine having a safe space to tell the truth without fear of judgment, criticism, or rejection. A place where you can take down the tough guise, soften your heart, look honestly at your life, tell the truth, work through conflicts, express your deepest self, and see that you are not alone. Now imagine that you are 15 years old and part of a circle like this. How might your life have been different? How might this change the world?

The Teen Talking Circle Facilitator Training is a deeply experiential workshop for adults who are interested in starting Teen Talking Circles in their communities. Participants will not only learn the basics of creating safe space, setting intentions, and how to use specific conflict resolution techniques and Compassionate Listening* to work through core/wound/defense issues, but you'll also having the opportunity to do your own healing work. You'll come away from this training with a direct experience of what it feels like to be in circle and go through the exercises and processes you will yourself facilitate in your own groups. Our intention is for you to come away knowing that you can do it; all it takes is a commitment to do your own work, and trust the organic process that will unfold. Or, you'll come away knowing what more work you need to do to be fully prepared to take on facilitating a Teen Talking Circle.

Teen Talking Circles started in 1993 as the Daughters Sisters Project, under the fiscal umbrella of Context Institute, founders of In Context Magazine. As the Project grew to include more men and teen guy circles, our name changed. Today, there are TTC circles worldwide, and branch representatives in Boulder, Colorado; Seattle, Washington; Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Lopez Island, Washington; and Yelapa, Mexico; For a more information on circles and facilitators in your area, see: www.teentalkingcircles.org or contact our home office: info@teentalkingcircles.org

Speaking and Listening from the Heart is led by Linda Wolf, founder and executive director of The Teen Talking Circle Project, and co-author of Daughters of the Moon, Sisters of the Sun: Young Women and Mentors on the Transition to Womanhood, with the assistance of young women and additional facilitators of local circles. Linda is a certified facilitator of Compassionate Listening*. The practice of Compassionate Listening teaches us how to reach through layers of defensiveness and reactivity to our essential core. From there, we can shift our energy, communication, and relationships into a heart-to-heart connection.

Your non-refundable deposit of $200 or full payment reserves your space in the workshop.

The greatest gift we can give another is the gift of ourselves - our presence, our acceptance, our willingness to work towards having sustainable relationships and acceptance of our interconnection. From this we naturally contribute to cultures of peace wherever we are.

Addendum: Please note there is a $200 nonrefundable deposit if you decide to cancel participation in a workshop at any time.

Women's Circles Network

Women's Spa & Sacred Circle Retreats offer a loving, supportive time where women can step back from their daily lives – to pause, reflect and relax and learn enlivening relationship and communication skills, such as Compassionate Listening to bring back home to continue the process of creating a life of meaning and a future steeped in passion and joy. "I loved this circle and the time we spent in Yelapa. I didn't realize how different I felt until I got on the plane and looked at my face in the bathroom mirror. I saw myself and couldn't believe how much I'd changed! Now, I'm going home to be with my family and bring to our world some of the wisdom I learned." Carla "Thank you for the awesome week in Yelapa. I think about it everyday and I am so grateful. The circle we created was so loving. I am so grateful to everyone of the women there who helped me work through stuff. I'll never forget this. I consider it one of the highlights of my life." Rose quot;More than ever, I think what we're hungry for, really starved for, is the truth. To hear the truth, and also to have a safe place where we can speak the truth, and share the truth of our experience, and feel accepted and appreciated. This is crucial for all of us."
